Transcript:
The FC-220 is a single fiber cleaver designed to accommodate either 900-micron buffered or 250-micron coated fiber. The FC-220 cleaver's quick and easy three-step operation is well suited for mechanical splice and terminates connector applications virtually anywhere. The leaf spring base his rule to allow for cleave lengths of 2 to 20 millimeters and the carbide blade will perform up to 6000 cleaves to use this fiber cleaver.First strip the primary and secondary coatings from the fiber using one of Jonard Tool's fiber strippers Next, clean the fiber with a lint-free alcohol wipe such as the Jonard Tools fiber wipes.Press the fiber holder lever down to open the fiber holder and insert the fiber into the holder.Make sure it has a line in the groove of the leaf spring.Line up the end of the buffer coating with the cleave length you would like to use.Make sure the leaf spring is horizontal.Release the fiber holder lever to hold the fiber.Hold the buffered fiber against the leaf spring and gently press the fiber-holding lever once more to relieve torsional stress.
Next, score the cable by lightly pressing down on the head of the FCC-220 to nick the fiber. The blade must be used gently in order to provide a good clean cleave.Release the head and making sure to only score the fiber once. Now carefully bend the leaf spring while continuing to hold the fiber.Bend the leaf spring just enough to separate the fiber.Remove your cleaved fiber from the tool.Press the fiber holder level to open the fiber holder.Remove and dispose of the excess fiber.Your fiber is now ready for a connector for replacement parts order the FC-4 replacement blade and the FC-65 replacement leaf spring.
